CHILDREN'S DAY WEEKEND
An afternoon of fun at Jumpology and CiCi's Pizza scheduled for
Saturday, June 8, has been cancelled.
Children's Day 2019 will be observed on Sunday, June 9, at 11:00
a.m. Theme: "Children: A Gift From God" (Mark 10:14). We are
requesting you invite family and friends to fellowship with us. Let
us fill our sanctuary with children for this special occasion. The
guest speaker will be Rev. Dr. C. C. Jackson. Refreshments will
be served. Children's Day donation $35.00.
Vera T. Johnson Food Bank/Community Outreach
The Missionary Ministry will work to support FeedMore. The
Ministry will be collecting specific food items each month. Food
items needed for the month of February Healthy Snacks (Fruit
Cups, Raisins, and Granola Bars). All Items will be donated to FeedMore with the Riverview Baptist Church Vera T. Johnson
Food Bank as the donating organization. Help someone in need.
The Missionary Ministry
On Saturday, June 15, the Men's Fellowship is hosting a Breakfast
and Forum at Shoney's, 8415 West Broad Street, beginning at 9:00
a.m. Carol Adams Foundation will present safety information.
There will be a drawing for 9 free breakfasts.
On Sunday, June 16, we invite you to Sunday School at 9:45 a.m.
and regular worship service at 11:00 a.m. Our guest speaker will
be Rev. Pierce Wiltiams, Executive Minister, Fifth Street Baptist
Church. Voting for Man of the Year will be held Sunday, June 8,
after morning worship; nominations must be in the church office no
later than Friday, June 7.
Men's Day/Father's Day Love Gift- $50.00
Our 2019 ADOPT-A-PEW/Homecoming March will be on the first
and third Sundays of each month, effective January 6 (excluding
March and June as a result of Women's and Men's/Father's Day.
This is an attempt to lessen the possible stress of reaching the
requested goal of $100.00 per member by September 15. The
ADOPT-A- PEW RALLY is an effort to help achieve our Annual
Bl,Jdget. Envelopes are in the back of the church pews. If you
need additional envelopes, please contact an usher. You may use
the Homecoming envelope included with your regular envelopes, if

Stewardship Ministry will focus on all 5-elements of stewardship
this year: Time, Talent, Tissue, Natural Resources and Treasure.
Presently, in addition to Treasure, we encourage recycling, an
aspect of Natural Resources.

Today is Seventh Sunday of Easter. The color is WHITE. White
symbolizes purity, holiness, and virtue, as well as respect and
reverence. White is used for all high Holy Days and festival days of
the Church Year.
Christian Education Ministry
On behalf of Riverview Baptist Church congregation and all official
ministries, we officially welcome Harvey LaShaw Tunnell as our
new Director of Music.
2019 Vacation Bible School will be held June 24 - June 28 from
6:00 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. The closing will be held on Sunday morning,
June 30, at 9:15. To help defray cost of food and other amenities,
we are asking organizations and individuals to make a financial
contribution to our 2019 Vacation Bible School. We do not have
the supermarket gift cards as we once had; therefore, we need
your support. Our annual church picnic, sponsored by our Deacon
Ministry, will be held on Sunday, June 30, after church services.

The 2019 Vacation Bible School Planning Meeting will be
Tuesday, June 4, at 6:30p.m. All teachers and staff are expected
to attend. The purpose of this meeting is to distribute folders and
teaching materials to allow ample time for preparation. Teams will
have time to discuss plans. If, for some reason, you are unable to
attend, please contact Mary J. Jackson for further information.

The 5th Grade Experience Awards Program we initiated at John B.
Cary Elementary School last year, "Riverview and You: Let's See
What We Can Do!", was a success and we are continuing the
program in 2019. We will present a $100 gift card to the 5th grader
with the highest GPA and a $100 gift card to the 5th grader who is
most improved. We also assist them in purchasing the trophies
and medallions for the 5th graders. Thank you in advance for your
continued support. We will be in the vestibule on Sunday, June 2,
and 9, collecting money to support this program for the 2019 5th
VBS Planning Meeting
Church School classes for all youth will be held every Sunday in
the Junior High Department near the church office. The class will
begin at 9:45 a.m. All youth are invited to attend; the lesson will be
informative and enjoyable. There are adult classes also.
